We ask that you commit to a long term use of the barrel, as we cannot grant barrels for one time use or clean outs.   Each residential home is supplied with one trash barrel and one recycling barrel (it is the property owners responsibility to maintain and clean).  Barrels are the property of the Town of Westwood and cannot be moved from the residence.

Trash Barrels:
The cost for an additional trash barrel is $150 annually for July 1st to June 30th (billed on June 1st each year).   Trash Barrels can be purchased 4 times a year (prorated fee):
Payment received by March 31st = $25 for April through June
Payment received by June 30th = $150.00 for July through June
Payment received by September 30th = $112.50 for October through June
Payment received by December 31st = $75 for June through June

Recycle Barrels:  
The cost for an additional recycle barrel is a one-time fee of $60.  Recycle Barrels can be purchased 4 times a year:
Payment received by March 31st = April delivery
Payment received by June 30th = July delivery
Payment received by September 30th = October delivery
Payment received by December 31st = January delivery

Compost Bins:
The cost for a compost bin is a one-time fee of $55
Once payment has been received, residents will be notified via View Permit when compost bin is ready for pick up at the DPW building located at 50 Carby Street  Click Here

For extra trash, you will need to use Town of Westwood overflow bags.  The overflow bags are available at the locations listed below and are sold in rolls of 5 bags for $10 (each bag holds 33 gallons of trash).  Just fill the overflow bags and place at curbside next to your trash barrel on your regular trash collection day (no limit).

Yes, bagging your trash will help keep cart clean and sanitary and prevent litter on windy days. All bags must be placed in your cart.

NO, do NOT bag your recycles, plastic bags (of any sort; trash, shopping, grocery, etc.) are the number 1 contaminant (get caught in the machinery).

Yard Waste Collection Weeks
Please refer to the Town of Westwood website for yard waste collection weeks
-Leaves must be placed in paper leaf recycling bags or loosely in barrels that are clearly marked leaves
-Barrels and bags must be placed at the curb by 7:00 AM
-Barrels and bags should not exceed 45 pounds in weight
-Leaves placed in any kind of plastic bag cannot be collected
-DO's:  leaves, grass clippings, weeds, small twigs
-DONT's:  rocks, stones, sand, dirt, wood, plastic

• Missed Pickup!  If your leaf bags were out by 7:00 AM on your regular trash day and were not picked up by 6:00 PM please contact the DPW office via email or (781) 251-2587 within 24 hours and we will schedule a pickup with Waste Management. We cannot schedule yard waste pickups after the scheduled collection week has ended. Thanks for your help!
