FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Westwood (11/17/25) – After an extensive search process, the Westwood Select Board has selected current Easton Town Administrator Connor Read to be the next Westwood Town Administrator.  The Select Board unanimously voted to begin contract negotiations with Read during its November 16 meeting.

Read has been the Town Administrator in the Town of Easton since 2017 and previously served as Easton’s Assistant Town Administrator, Acting Town Clerk, and Citizen Business Advocate. In his role as Town Administrator, Read secured voter approval of $250 million in debt exclusions to fund an elementary school, police station, fire station, and Public Works facility. He earned his bachelor’s in political science from the University of Massachusetts (Dartmouth) and his master’s in Public Administration from Bridgewater State University.

Read was selected amongst 27 applicants. Read and the other two finalists were interviewed by the Select Board on November 13.

During the November 16 Select Board meeting, members said that Read would bring a set of skills and experiences from his time in Easton that would be a benefit to Westwood. The Select Board also praised his energy, thoughtfulness, empathy, sincerity, and knowledge.

“I agree with you that he distinguished himself as a tremendous fit for Westwood,” said Select Board Chair Robert Gotti.

“Thank you so much for your votes of confidence and your belief in me. It’s been an incredible process,” said Read, who attended the Select Board meeting. “Thank you for putting your trust in me. I’m very excited by this opportunity, and I look forward to joining the team and working with Deputy Administrator [Molly] Fitzpatrick and the amazing folks you have in Westwood to do a great job for the people of Westwood.”

Westwood utilized the services of Community Paradigm Associates in its search for the next Town Administrator. The Town Administrator Screening Committee was chaired by Jack Wiggin and included Town Counsel Patrick Ahearn, Finance and Warrant Commission Chair Bill Bruce, School Committee member Dori Parmelee, Planning Board Chair Ellen Larkin Rollings, former Select Board member Phil Shapiro, and resident Ford Spalding. Former Human Resources Director Joan Courtney Murray served as an ex officio member and liaison to Community Paradigm Associates and the candidates.
