Westwood Board of Health Statement Regarding Individuals at High Risk of Serious Illness Related to COVID-19

The Westwood Board of Health continues to follow all of the reports related to positive tests for COVID-19 in the Commonwealth. We have been working with the Massachusetts Department of Public Health, the Local Emergency Planning Committee, and Westwood Public Schools to share information and be best prepared for a coordinated community response to COVID-19.

Of particular note, the CDC has identified individuals at high risk of serious illness related to COVID-19.

If you fall into the following category, please take a moment to click on the link at the bottom of this page to learn more.

Early information out of China, where COVID-19 first started, shows that some people are at higher risk of getting very sick from this illness. This includes:

  • Older adults
  • People who have serious chronic medical conditions like:
  • Heart disease
  • Diabetes
  • Lung disease

If you are at higher risk for serious illness from COVID-19 because of your age or because you have a serious long-term health problem, it is extra important for you to take actions to reduce your risk of getting sick with the disease.
