Housing Services in Westwood
The Westwood Housing Authority and it’s non-profit arm, Westwood Affordable Housing Associates are responsible for the development and management of affordable housing in Westwood. Furthermore the Housing Partnership and Fair Housing Committee ensure that housing opportunities are available in Westwood to all income and age levels and also protects against discrimination in the sale of real estate in the town of Westwood.

The Westwood Housing Authority was established in 1988 after Town Meeting voted to establish such an authority. The Department of Housing and Community Development has mandated that the Town of Westwood provide at least twelve affordable rental units under Executive Order 215. The Housing Authority has not been able to secure local or state funding to develop twelve units but has secured nine units over the past ten years through the efforts of its non-profit affiliate, Westwood Affordable Housing Associates, Inc. All units are currently leased and occupied at this time.

Westwood Affordable Housing Associates, Inc.
The non-profit arm of the housing authority, Westwood Affordable Housing Associates, Inc. was formed in 1994 to pursue creative options for funding the development or purchase of affordable family rental units in Westwood. Over the past ten years WAHA has purchased three two-bedroom duplexes, one three-bedroom duplex, and one single house for a total of nine rental units. All tenants must be certified as low income. All units are currently rented and occupied at this time. If you wish to be added to the list if a unit becomes available, please send a written request to the Westwood Housing Office, Town Hall, 580 High Street, Westwood, MA 02090. WAHA does not have permanent staff to manage the units but contracts out management and maintenance services.
The Town does not own any senior housing units but refers all interested applicants that are age 55 or over (or disabled) to Highland Glen or Westwood Glen. The phone number for Highland Glen is (781) 329-7755 and the phone number for Westwood Glen is (781) 326-8660. All questions and requests for applications must be referred to these numbers. Both of these developments are owned and operated by Equity Residential, Inc.
Westwood has two single family housing developments that were developed under the Local Initiative Program from 1996-2000. All fifty-five affordable units are currently owned and occupied. The Town held a new lottery in December 2010 to establish an updated waiting list. This list will be used for the next three years if an affordable house becomes available for resale.

The Housing Partnership ensures that housing opportunities are available in Westwood to all income and age levels in accordance with programs regulated by the Massachusetts Housing Partnership.
Fair Housing Committee
The Fair Housing Committee protects against discrimination in the sale of real estate within the Town of Westwood.
