Fields

DEERFIELD FIELD UPDATE:  On Saturday, April 30 the Deerfield Field was officially re-opened following a complete renovation. The area was expanded to include two softball fields complete with backstops, skinned infields and covered and fenced dugouts. The fields were re-graded for proper drainage and an irrigation system was installed and the entire field area was covered with sod.

The grand re-opening ceremony was part of the celebration as Deerfield was host to the annual Westwood Little League Parade. The weather cooperated and the crowds on hand enjoyed the parade, the National Anthem with giant flag raising, official ribbon cutting with Selectman Mike Walsh and a ceremonial ball toss to open the field with retiring Selectman Pat Ahearn. Fun activities included meeting Wally the Green Monster, face-painting, a pitching speed station and a softball scrimmage.

Westwood Recreation would like to thank the New England Development for providing the funding for the Deerfield Field project. Thanks are also due to Westwood Board of Selectmen, DPW, Police, Fire and Public Schools, the Westwood Little League, Youth Softball and Lacrosse for all their assistance and support of the Deerfield Field project.
