Housing in Westwood

The Town of Westwood is committed to ensuring that housing opportunities are available to all residents, regardless of race, color, national origin, religion, sex, physical or mental disability, familial status or any other classification protected by applicable federal, state or local law.

Further, the Town is committed to increasing the diversity of housing opportunities within the Town to support housing of choice for residents of any age or income status.

There are several entities within and supported by Town government that work toward achieving these Housing goals.

Housing Partnership

Michael McCusker
John M. Hickey
Juliet W. Onderdonk
Brian Gorman, Alternate
Michael A. Jaillet, Ex-officio Member
Sarah Bouchard, Ex-officio Member

The Housing Partnership ensures that housing opportunities are available in Westwood to all income and age levels in accordance with programs regulated by the Massachusetts Housing Partnership. The Housing Partnership collaborates with the Planning and Zoning Boards on Zoning Bylaws that encourage production of low and moderate income housing.

Fair Housing Committee

Michael A. Jaillet, Fair Housing Officer
Sarah Bouchard, Ex-officio Member

The Fair Housing Committee protects against discrimination in the sale of real estate within the Town of Westwood. This committee is also a hearing and monitoring entity to prevent discrimination in the selection of applicants for its affordable homes. For more information on Fair Housing, click here.

Local Initiative Program

Westwood has two single-family housing developments that were developed under the Local Initiative Program from 1996-2000. These single family homes are available for purchase by income-eligible families and will remain affordable in perpetuity. All fifty-five affordable units are currently owned and occupied.

Westwood Housing Authority

The town supports and works cooperatively with the independent Westwood Housing Authority (WHA) and its non-profit affiliate, Westwood Affordable Housing Associates, Inc. (WAHA).  For more information about these organizations, click here
